Soap Box Grand Prix

A high-octane challenge with all the thrills of the world’s most exclusive
motor sport.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The group is briefed on what the afternoon entails and what categories are included in order to score points including; building your cart and designing your nose cone, designing your drivers suit, painting overall, participating in separate races. To earn the components for their cars, each team must take on a series of innovative challenges that will test the mental, creative and physical skills of the entire team.

Building Zone

This is the creative element of the afternoon…teams are issued with their cart, along with raw materials, cardboard, piping staple guns, paints, tape, etc. Creatively, they need to come up with team logos, creating either a nose cone OR a rear wing on their team car…as well as assemble axles and wheels.

Racing Zone

Teams will compete in the competitive element of the day…on the Illovo race circuit. Teams are timed during the course of each category race, not only against the others on the course but overall against all the other teams during the afternoon. 4 x teams racing at a time with times being taken. These times will ascertain racing order with the Segway race, also 3 heats of 4 teams at a time.
